As Operations Manager I am responsible for overseeing and optimising the day-to-day operations of a company to ensure efficiency, productivity, and profitability. My focus is on streamlining processes, managing resources, and ensuring that products or services are delivered efficiently while maintaining quality standards.

I truly enjoy being the bridge between our customers and the technical team. My role involves managing customer inquiries, overseeing orders, and ensuring everything runs smoothly from start to finish. I thrive on the variety each day brings, whether it’s solving challenges or coordinating logistics. Being part of a team that’s dedicated to delivering high-quality solutions is incredibly rewarding, and I take pride in knowing I’m helping our clients achieve their goals with the best products and services available.

I’m Thomas Laird, the Sales Manager at Metallisation Ltd. With a passion for surface engineering and over a decade of experience in the industry, I take pride in helping our clients find the perfect metal spraying solutions for their needs.

At Metallisation, I work closely with customers across diverse sectors, including automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing, to ensure they receive world-class products and support. My role allows me to combine technical expertise with customer-focused service, ensuring our systems deliver both quality and reliability.

Outside of work, I enjoy staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in thermal spray technologies and exploring innovative ways to enhance our customer offerings. I’m dedicated to maintaining strong relationships with our clients and being a part of their success stories.

I coordinate sales, from handling orders to managing large-scale equipment deals. I work with customers and resellers to ensure specs are met, timelines stay on track, and shipments and documents are ready to go. I’m involved from start to finish, tackling technical queries and supporting customer service. There’s a lot more to it, but that’s the gist!

I co-ordinate sales. This can be anything from taking phone and email orders to a bigger scale equipment or material sale where I have to liaise with the customer or reseller to make sure it is to the specification required, that the lead times that are given are accurate and that it stays within these timescales, and that the shipment and any relevant documents required are all ready and going to plan, we tend to be involved from start to finish. I also help with some technical queries, and if I can’t point them in the right direction to get the answers as well as other areas of customer service. There is so much more I could also add but we would be here for a very long time!

Every day is different at Metallisation, and I enjoy the variety of the work as well as being able to communicate with people all over the world. I came from a completely different industry and getting to know the products we sell as well as the multitude of applications and areas our products can be used, I have found incredibly interesting, and I always enjoy finding out as much as I can as well as sometimes getting my hands dirty doing some spraying or repairing!
