Footbridges

Reason for use:

Long term corrosion protection

Long term corrsion protection often in inaccessible areas where regular inspection and maintenance would be costly, e.g. over railway lines or major roads.

Showing a considerable development from the traditional railway footbridge, the accompanying photograph illustrates the steel footbridge erected over the railway at Hurst Green, Surrey, by South Coast Welders Ltd, to the order of the Surrey County Council.

The protective treatment selected for this structure was gritblasting and metal spraying with zinc to a thickness of 75 microns (0.003”) followed by a paint system for decorative surfaces. The Outside Contracts Division of the Metallisation Organisation carried out the complete treatment at the Customer’s Works; 1300M2 (14,000 sq ft) of surface area were treated within three weeks.
